Often, these pains are disregarded and are thought to be a “normal” part of the process that come with being pregnant. You do not need to suffer and be uncomfortable throughout your pregnancy. We are here to help you!

Postpartum

You got through pregnancy and delivered your baby but now are experiencing pains from breastfeeding, lifting and carrying your little one, hoisting the infant carrier, all while trying to heal your abdomen and pelvic floor. Whether you have had a cesarean or vaginal delivery, your tissues need time and rehab to heal just like any other injury to the body.

You likely will have one ob/gyn postpartum check at 6 weeks after delivery, in which they typically give full clearance to return to all functioning. Your body has grown and housed a tiny human for up to 10 months and received soft tissue trauma during delivery. Both cesarean and vaginal deliveries require time, healing and safe rehabilitation to correct any current dysfunction and to prevent future dysfunction. Your pelvic floor plays a crucial role in supporting your pelvic organs, working with your healing core to stabilize your body, provides sphincter control to prevent leakage of urine, gas and stool and contributes to sexual functioning. We don’t expect an ankle sprain, ACL tear or alternate abdominal surgeries like a hernia repair to have clearance for full functioning at 6 weeks. We shouldn’t expect the same for the birthing community. After the work you put in to carry and deliver a human, you deserve to have limitless and pain free function.

Common conditions we treat:

  • Early rehabilitation for cesarean and vaginal deliveries

  • Scar mobilization

  • Bladder dysfunction: urgency, frequency, leakage

  • Bowel dysfunction: urgency, constipation, leakage of gas or stool, difficulty emptying

  • Sexual dysfunction: pain with intercourse

  • Pelvic pain: pelvic girdle pain and difficulty walking after delivery, tears not healing well

  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse: heaviness or a bulge within the vagina, lower abdominal pulling, difficulty emptying bladder and bowels

  • Diastasis recti

  • Safe return to exercise

Pediatrics

Developmental Check-In

Did you know that it is common for babies to have tightness in their neck, trunk, oral muscles, hips and shoulders from being in the fetal position throughout pregnancy? Prolonged time and difficult labors, use of forceps or vacuum and delivery of multiples increases chances of spasm and tightness of muscles. This can lead to difficulty latching, reflux, decreased tolerance to tummy time, flat spots on the skull and difficulty with motor milestones such as rolling, sitting and crawling. Getting your baby assessed early can help identify areas of tightness or concern and address them before it leads to delay. We come to you and assess your infant/toddler to identify any musculoskeletal concerns and get them on the road to freedom of movement!

Developmental Milestone Acquisition and Purposeful Play Training

Not sure where to start with playing and engaging your baby? Let us help you. We come to you to coach you in purposeful play techniques to help your baby progress through their developmental milestones. We help provide guidance on helpful toys, education on container devices, fitting of harnesses, set up of play activities to help your child thrive through those early years of play. We offer per session services or packages pf sessions to encompass play activities throughout the infant/toddler stages of development.
