About Us
Carry to Crawl
Carry to Crawl was created to improve maternal and pediatric care. There are often delays in both women and children receiving referrals for appropriate care and support to help with their pain, dysfunction and delays. Many symptoms, if caught early, can be improved with intervention and do not need to result in acceptance of long-term dysfunction.
In many countries, postpartum care automatically includes a referral to pelvic health physical therapy for women to heal and recover after cesarean and vaginal delivery. In the US, we typically wait for dysfunction to occur before referring women to appropriate care and their symptoms are often ignored as a normal part of pregnancy and postpartum. We often hear from women “I didn’t know pelvic PT existed or that my symptoms can be helped.” Resources and accessible care for women is not well advertised and women deserve better care.
In pediatrics, it is also very common for early dysfunction to be disregarded until delay becomes more evident. With the CDC changing milestones it is becoming harder for children to qualify for early intervention services to help with their delays. The “wait and see” approach to receiving intervention in the US results in chronic symptoms and worsening of developmental delay. If you are noticing concerns with your little one or need guidance on how to foster motor development, please reach out to us!
New Jersey is a direct access state, which means that you do not need to wait for a referral from your doctor to receive appropriate maternal or pediatric care! If you see something, say something and reach out to us to get assessed. Carry to Crawl is here to help and we offer the convenience to come to you in the comfort of your own home, or virtually, so you can receive the care and intervention that you need. No need to worry about childcare or working around nap and feeding times to get yourself to appointments. Carry to Crawl has scheduling that is flexible, including weeknights and weekends, and we are prepared to have your little ones running about as we work with you!
About Me
Hi! I’m Jen, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and have been practicing since I graduated from Boston University in 2008. I have merged my two specialties (pelvic health and pediatrics) into Carry To Crawl to help improve perinatal and pediatric care. Prior to developing Carry To Crawl, my past experience includes working in pelvic health and orthopedic outpatient clinics, a pediatric rehabilitation hospital and in-home early intervention pediatric physical therapy. I became particularly interested in the pregnant, postpartum and early pediatrics subspecialties as I noticed significant gaps in services for these populations. I then went on for additional training in pregnancy and postpartum corrective exercise, as well as a program for dual certification to be a Birth and Postpartum Doula. My goal is for women to feel empowered, educated, supported and confident during this wildly changing time in their lives. I truly believe that if the mother is thriving then baby is also thriving. It takes a village and Carry To Crawl is here to help be a support system and resource for women from the start of pregnancy, during birth, throughout postpartum and to help their littles through infant & toddler development so that both the mama and their munchkin can thrive.
